Humbling.
I think that's the best way to describe the second workout of the 2014 CrossFit Open. The workout for this week is below. Overhead squats and pull-ups... should be simple, right?
Bill led team CFTC Blitz with a score of 119, proving that overhead squats are all about mobility and strength. Stan took a close second with 113 reps, discovering how evil chest to bar pull-ups can be. And Jenny (above) led the women with 68 reps making the pull-ups look easy (sorry for stealing the facebook pic but it's awesome).
The week's Competitor Award for week 2 goes to Heather H who has progressed from not being able to do pull-ups last year to getting 6 solid chest to bar reps in the workout. Progress takes commitment, and Heather has been committed this whole time to multiple workouts a week and figuring out nutritiion that works for her. Way to go Heather!
However, 14.2 taught us all a lesson in humility, learning just where our body's limits lie. Just like any workout though, CrossFit is about proving that that limits can be broken. CFTC Blitz took a hit in the rankings after this one, so let's regroup and hit 14.3 hard. A grill-out after the workout can't hurt either.
In the words of Gym Jones, "300" trainer:
"What you know does not matter - what you do matters."
Just keep moving.
