CFTC CrossFit Open Update 4

1 week to go! As the workouts have progressed, apparently so have the quality of the pictures. (Thanks Gaby, Konstantin, Robin, Michelle and Stan for contributing.) This week's Competitor Award goes to Jenny A for making the toes to bar look easy, which after 50 of them was an amazing feat. Jenny has also risen to the occasion after being nudged by coaches to sign up for the Open and then killing it. Way to go Jenny! You're a true CFTC veteran at this point.

With just one week left there are a few movements that haven't shown up that are all candidates for 14.5--thrusters, burpees, pistols, shoulder to overhead-- all seem likely candidates. Whatever the last challenge, CFTC Blitz is ready for it. This week CFTC Blitz put up its best team score of the Open, with a combined 971 reps, a solid score placing us in the middle of the region.

Top individual scores this week go to Josh, with an impressive 3 muscle ups (183 total) and to Heather B, again back on top for the ladies, finishing with 25 cleans (175 total). Speaking for myself, this was the first workout I attempted twice, improving by 5 reps after realizing that a week of business travel is harder to recover from than first thought.

The important lesson from the Open that I think we've all learned is that it's impossible to hide from your weaknesses. None of us are doing this to win money or get to regionals. We're doing it because we know there's a better version of ourselves that's attainable if we just work a little bit harder. Likely a few additional reps won't get us there, but a journey that starts with some measurements will get us much further than we ever thought we could go.

One more week!

In the words of the all-knowing philosopher Drake,
What's the move? Can I tell the truth?
If I was doing this for you then I'd have nothing left to prove
Nah, this for me, though
...
And they don't have no award for that, trophies, trophies
I just do it cause I'm 'sposed to
14.4:
 14 minute AMRAP:
60-calorie row
50 toes-to-bars
40 wall-ball shots, 20 / 14 lb.
30 cleans, 135 / 95 lb.
20 muscle-ups
