Based on what you said this morning, I do have one question:

Is it the intensity (reps per round), or the volume (i.e., number of rounds) that leads to greater increases in the V02 max?

It is a function of both. Kenneth Jay recommends being able to complete 80 rounds of at least 8 reps per round with a 16 kg KB before moving on to the next protocol.
